Growth in Every Season

Good things often come from quiet thinking and deep engagement, much like the spiritual journey of Lent. As we look back to Camp Week and get ready for a season of exams, we are reminded that these experiences, alongside the Lenten season, are growth opportunities. Each moment can reveal hidden blessings. This season, marked by both internal reflection and external demands, invites us to find meaning and strength in all we do.

HIGHLIGHTS

HOPE Camp Week ⛺

We completed our annual Camp Week 2025, and our hearts are overflowing with joy! Across Cambodia, we ran five different camp programs ran across Cambodia, each designed to create bonding opportunities while deepening our students' understanding of God's transformative work in their lives, our community, and the world.

Our Lower Primary campers, embracing the theme "Abide and Thrive," were blessed by the presence of dedicated members from First Baptist Woodway and First Baptist Hewitt. Transforming our facilities into a vibrant "Kingdom Rock" camp site, an immersive experience was created for our youngest learners at school.

The Upper Primary adventurers journeyed to Kampong Thom, conquering fears with the theme of being "Unafraid". Through engaging activities and heartfelt discussions, they discovered the strength found in a relationship with God. The week culminated in a thrilling Friday, with visits to Doozii Sen Sok and Garden City Water Park. Relive the excitement in our Primary Camp Week highlights video.

Our Middle School students embarked on a transformative retreat to Shalom Valley in Kep. Over four days, they strengthened friendships with their peers, experienced new activities, and reflected on personal growth through insightful sessions featuring inspiring biblical characters at life crossroads.

Grades 9 and 10 adventured to the stunning landscapes of Mondulkiri. After an eight-hour journey, they settled into The Nature Lodge, explored an elephant sanctuary, and took a refreshing visit at the Bousra waterfalls. Under the guidance of guest speaker Mr. Aaron Holmes, they explored the importance of individual gifts within the community, cultivated meaningful friendships, and embraced opportunities for leadership development.

Finally, our Grade 11 students immersed themselves in the rich cultural heritage of Siem Reap. Their focus on Leadership as Servant Hearted Responsibility provided a spiritual framework upon which to reflect. They explored well-known spots like Angkor Wat and Wake Park Cambodia, while engaging in reflections about leadership qualities, biblical examples of pride and humility, and the challenges leaders face. This experience served as a powerful preparation for their upcoming Grade 12 year. Watch our students at their camp programs in our Secondary Camp Week 2025 highlights video.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our staff, whose tireless efforts made this week possible, both in planning ahead and during the camps themselves. We also thank all the volunteers and guest speakers for sowing seeds of faith in the hearts and the minds of our students, bringing a fresh perspective. Lastly, thank you to all parents for the support and trust in allowing HOPE to facilitate this precious time with the students. We encourage all parents to share their feedback through this anonymous online form.

HOPE North is 10 years

We're celebrating 10 years at our HOPE North campus. Our Student Council organized a special assembly to remember God's support in giving us this location. We honored families who have been here since we moved, giving them 'SuperFamilies' cards. Over the last 10 years, we've seen our campus change and grow.

A Blessing: Freddie Wagner at HOPE

We were so blessed to welcome Freddie Wagner, a wonderful educational diagnostician and autism specialist from the United States, into the HOPE community.

Thanks to connections through SIL, Freddie spent a whole week on campus, sharing his expertise. His journey, from Venezuela to Thailand and now Cambodia, speaks about his dedication to serving Christian schools around the world.

Freddie's diagnostic sessions gave answers to parents and students, and his seminar on autism created a beautiful space for shared learning. We are truly grateful for his warm presence on campus this week.

ACADEMICS

GL Testing

Over the next two weeks, from Monday, March 17 to Friday, March 28, primary and middle school students will complete GL Progress Testing in English, Maths, and Science.

HOPE students have participated in this testing for several consecutive years and the data that these tests provide allows us as a school to:

Should your child be concerned about this testing, please reassure them that their teachers will support them through the process. Note that the data from these tests is not included in student reports. This is not a test that the students are required to prepare for through extra study, but they have already been prepared for it through their regular learning programme.

March: Reading Month

March is book month and to celebrate, we have a few initiatives for primary and middle School students.

Reading Log Challenge: To track their reading, students should write their name and the book title on a caterpillar segment for every 30 minutes they read. They will cut out these segments at home and bring them to school to add to your class caterpillar. The class with the most reading hours, averaged per student, will win a special "plant-a-tree-pizza-party-picnic"!

Read-A-Thon Fundraiser (March 10 - April 4): Students will find sponsors to donate for the books they read, and all donations will go towards new books for our school library. Click here to donate on behalf of a student.

Book Week (March 31 - April 4): Enjoy special reading events, including "Drop Everything and Read" (D.E.A.R.).

Book Character Dress-Up Parade (April 4, 8:00 AM): On Friday, April 4th at 8:00 AM in the Park Plaza, we will have a Book Character Dress-Up Parade. Students are encouraged to dress as their favorite book characters, and parents are invited to join us for the parade!

CAMPUS

Policies Update

We would like to inform you of updates to two important school policies:

Revised Admission Policy: Our Admission Policy has been updated to provide a more clear and streamlined admissions process, with clarified language and a precise articulation of our admission priorities.

New Adverse Weather Policy: We have also introduced a new Adverse Weather Policy, designed to prioritize the health and safety of students and staff during extreme weather conditions such as heat waves, poor air quality, and water shortages. This policy was developed with input from health experts and other international schools in the region.

They are effective immediately. Please take a look at the policies. Remember that all policies, school services and procedures can be found on our website at hope.edu.kh/policies. As partners in the education of your child, HOPE endeavors to be transparent with the school community about all policies and guidelines.

SAT Exam at HOPE

We have confirmed the next SAT dates for the next year:

The SAT is a standardized test used as an entrance requirement for many Universities in the USA. It is also accepted but not mandatory for Canadian, Singaporean, and Korean Universities.

As an official testing center, we welcome all students to take the SAT at HOPE. We recommend taking the SAT in Grades 11 or 12 to meet university application deadlines.

To register, please email our Guidance Counselor at angel.haas@hope.edu.kh
