Next week, the school will approach the Lord with open hearts and a spirit of reflection. These special days are the perfect chance to strengthen our faith and grow closer to God. The primary and middle school students will have time for shared worship, quiet prayer, and great conversations as we explore our faith together. Let's dive into the fun of growing spiritually as a community. Please pray with us for our students as we begin this special week!
Last week, our Grade 12 students showcased their TOK (Theory of Knowledge) Exhibitions. The TOK exhibition, part of the IB Diploma Core, serves as an internal assessment where students select an official question about how knowledge is developed and explore it using three real-world objects. These objects can be anything from personal possessions to cultural artifacts, as long as they effectively illustrate concepts about knowledge and how we understand the world. The Class of 2026 presented their work to staff, students, and visiting students from the Australian International School of Phnom Penh (AISPP).
With the same dedication, our high school students also participated in the Service Expo, an event that connects them with various organizations to explore potential service opportunities through the VIA (Vision into Action) and CAS (Creativity, Action, Service) programs. We are looking forward to seeing how these initial conversations evolve into meaningful service that demonstrates our students' creativity and commitment to their community.
An important meeting was held for parents of the Class of 2026. Our Head of School, Principals, Guidance Counselor, and pastoral teachers met with parents to outline the roadmap for their students' final year. This significant journey is both exciting and bittersweet. We are dedicated to supporting our students throughout this last stretch and wish them a successful and fulfilling year.
What a start to the season for our Koupreys athletes! After a summer of rest, our teams have come out ready to compete, showing incredible sportsmanship and skill in recent friendly games.
Our High School volleyball teams took on NISC and Liger in recent matches. The B girls' team secured a great win against NISC, and the boys A and B teams won two of their matches against Liger. The A girls’ won in 3 sets with Liger.
The Middle School basketball teams had an explosive start to their season, with all four of our teams winning their matches in a friendly tournament at NISC.
The Primary School football players also had their first friendly matches and performed very well.
In addition, our Cross-Country runners have begun their training, meeting every Wednesday at 6:15 am.
Congratulations to all our athletes on their fantastic performances! It's going to be an exciting season. Follow the Koupreys on Instagram @hopekoupreys to see more!
During our spiritual emphasis week, Primary students will explore the core concepts of Christian worship. They will learn about the who, what, when, where, and how of worship, building a comprehensive understanding of what it means to praise God.
Middle schoolers will discover how God’s truth is reflected in every part of our world—from art and music to science and math. Through daily workshops led by teachers, students will choose a topic to explore in depth. The week will end with a final presentation where they can share their discoveries through art, performance, or a presentation, connecting their faith to their learning in a meaningful way.
Please join us in praying for these programs, which will run from September 15th to 19th. We hope this special time strengthens the faith of our students.
Parents are encouraged to speak to your children each evening about what they have learned. Please see our Table Talk discussion points below:

Our Grade 9-11 students are off to Camp Week! This year, it's happening at the same time as FLAG Week.
This program is a wonderful opportunity for students to build friendships and make new memories. More information has been sent to parents' email addresses.
Here's where each grade is headed:
Grades 9 & 10: Kirirom Hillside Resort, focusing on leadership and community building.
Grade 11: Siem Reap, where the focus will be on servant leadership, exploring biblical principles, supporting a local mission, and setting future goals.
We will share daily updates in the following Telegram groups:
Grade 9: https://t.me/+WOBeaNsgjZM0ODFl
Grade 10: https://t.me/+wCU2zQBfQKdhOTM1
Grade 11: https://t.me/+xp1AdVyUOHs4MmU1
Grade 10 students from Global Perspectives are launching some relevant projects. Led by Mrs. Megan Holmes, as a requirement for their class, they have launched various projects to raise awareness about various global issues.
Take a look at their first initiatives; they will need the support of our community!
Elena Portela, Pannapat Phromnopwong, Eunjae Kim, Hangyeol Choi
This project is an after-school beaded accessory station and shop where students can make or buy handmade jewelry. The project also sells snacks and accepts commissions through its Instagram account. All proceeds from these sales will go towards a fundraising goal of $250 to support the Save the Children foundation's efforts to provide education to underprivileged children in Cambodia.
Ruby Jorgenson, Ruby Staunton, Ethan Pen, Jonathan Dunbar
In Phnom Penh alone, 3,000 to 5,000 tonnes of waste are created daily. Of that, 15-25% is plastic, 5-10% is paper and cardboard, and 2-5% is glass and metal. This is why we need to make changes quickly. We may not be able to reduce the amount of plastic created each day, but we can reduce the plastic buildup around us.
Ruby Jorgenson, Ruby Staunton, Ethan Pen, and Jonathan Dunbar want to make the land surrounding our school a cleaner and fresher place to be. If you want to join us in picking up rubbish, we will be doing it every Thursday of October from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, just outside of HOPE School, to make our world a cleaner place to live in.
Jonah Oh, Anna Claire Mellon, and Hope Asiata want to address the global issue of education. In doing so, they wish to fundraise for Hope Global Cambodia, a school that teaches local Khmer students English, to help broaden their opportunities in future endeavors.
This fundraising event is a 'Teacher Dare Challenge' running throughout September. For every $30 donated, a teacher or staff volunteer will complete a dare of their own choosing. The students will announce the donation total and the teacher's dare every Monday morning at assembly.
Samuel Phork, Eunhan Park, Seulon Yun, and Elijah Hendrata
Samuel Phork, Eunhan Park, Seulon Yun, and Elijah Hendrata want to raise awareness of health care access in Phnom Penh among the local communities. Help them raise funds to donate to the Kantha Bopha hospital in Siem Reap by buying some of their delicious drinks!
Kantha Bopha is an NGO, a non-profit organisation. That means they don’t make any profit when treating patients; it is completely free. Because it makes no profit, it heavily relies on other organisations, the governments, and donations to help keep the hospital running. Your donations help kids and adults from many different backgrounds gain the serious medical attention they need! All profits and donations made are going to be sent straight to the hospital. Learn more about this project here.
Week 7 - FLAG Week - Proverbs 3:19
Week 8 - Pchum Ben Break
Week 9 - Proverbs 3:27
Starting in October, C9 will offer a monthly meal pass. This means no more paper cards for those who sign up for the monthly pass.
The monthly pass can be purchased at Sahakom Cafe and will include a 5% discount on the meals for that month. The price will change each month based on the number of total school days. For October, it will be $77 for the large meal and premium salad bar and $60 for the small meal. Please note that reimbursements are not available for unused meals due to absences/illnesses.
How it works: Purchase a monthly meal pass at Sahakom Cafe where you will then note down the student (or staff) name and grade. This information will be kept at the kitchen where the student (or staff) can come and pick up their meal, no card necessary.
The monthly meal pass will be available for purchase up until the last day of the month. October passes will be available for purchase from Monday, September 15th through Tuesday, September 30th.
1 meal, 5 meals and 10 meal cards are still available for purchase if desired.
