There is a special tradition in our school where students from many different countries and generations come together. In these moments, all our differences disappear and we become one winning house. This unity is guided by the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God that connects us all. This Red Victory, reminds us that when we follow His Word and stand together, we are truly one family.
The Sword of the Spirit was fierce, dominating the field this Sports Day. It was great to see so many students actively involved, cheering each other on and encouraging each other in both the competitive events and the fun novelty events.
A special thank you to our House Captains who wrote new chants, encouraged sign ups, ran devotions and house meetings.
Beyond the races, our Snack Shack was a hit! Thanks to our parent volunteers, we raised over $1,000 USD to buy new balance bikes and helmets for our preschoolers. A huge thank you for bringing such delicious international food to our fundraising efforts! Special thanks to the leadership of Monica Limantara, Parent Council, and so many parents who supported this fundraiser.
Our Prayer and Fasting Week was a deeply meaningful time of reflection and spiritual renewal. It was a privilege to pause as a community and focus on our connection with our Creator.
A heartfelt thank you to the parents, students, and staff who joined us. Together, we lifted up prayer requests in unity for our community, our nation, and our local church. We are so grateful for your participation as we repositioned our hearts toward Jesus, acknowledging Him as our sole source of strength.
Please take another look at this week's program; we encourage you to continue these conversations and enjoy structured prayer times as a family.
It was a pleasure having Kelsi McGillivray back on campus this week. After some time in Canada, our former Teacher Librarian returned to HOPE to serve as a library volunteer. Kelsi’s insights were instrumental in refining our recent library layout and organizing our newest book acquisitions. We truly appreciate her dedication and service to the school community during her visit.
Starting in the 2024-2025 school year, the library budget was significantly increased. This has allowed us to transform our collection. We have added approximately 500 new titles, curated by Kelsi and coordinated by Elizabeth Shin, who worked tirelessly to get these books from the U.S. to Cambodia.
The new books are focused on the following themes:
Primary non-fiction topics that support the curriculum
Primary picture books featuring characters from diverse backgrounds
Primary and secondary books that feature biographies of historical and current figures
Secondary non-fiction books, especially books about spiritual growth and history
And some that are just for fun! Graphic novels, mysteries, and books that make you laugh out loud all contribute to the joy of reading and encourage students to read more.
To make room for these new resources, we have conducted a major "declutter." Curating a library is an ongoing process; we regularly remove books that are obsolete, in poor condition, or no longer circulating to ensure our shelves remain high-quality and relevant.
We want these books to find new homes! Starting this Monday, look for the "Book Donation Station" on campus. Simply pick a book and leave a donation (suggested $1 or whatever you feel it’s worth).
All donations will go directly back into supporting our school’s library. Happy reading!
Regular attendance and punctuality are vital to a child’s academic and social growth. HOPE’s updated Attendance Policy aims to work in partnership with families to keep students connected to their learning during unavoidable absences, maintaining a healthy balance between academic excellence and student well-being.
Highlights of the policy:
Absence Categories: Absences are now defined as Planned/Unplanned and Excused/Unexcused.
Procedures: Primary and Secondary divisions have different procedures for managing absences.
Late Arrivals: The policy clarifies the school's approach to punctuality to school and to classes throughout the day.
Process: Planned student absences of two days or more must be managed via the Planned Absence Form.
This policy aims to bring clarity and consistency to the school's daily operations. We encourage all families to read the document carefully to ensure compliance.
With this policy now active, we invite parents to partner with HOPE in prioritizing on-time arrivals. Developing these healthy habits is a joint effort between families and the school, and we appreciate your commitment to helping students get the most out of their academic journey.
Grade 11 students recently participated in an off campus learning experience at the Dangkor Landfill and the SOSORO Museum. At the landfill, students connected interdisciplinary classroom concepts from Christian Perspectives, Business Management, Economics, and History to real-world issues, exploring the complexities of sustainability, informal economies, and social responsibility. The visit to the Museum further enriched their learning by deepening their understanding of Cambodia’s economic evolution. Students were encouraged to think critically about how economic and political decisions shape society over time, while also fostering a greater understanding of personal responsibility toward sustainability and waste management.
To wrap up their unit on the Aztecs and Mayans, Grade 5 enjoyed a day filled with creativity and activities! Students explored the incredible origins of Mexican settlements by making their own tortillas and guacamole and learning about cultural trading practices. It was a great way to bring ancient history to life and celebrate the cultural legacies of these incredible civilizations.
We are getting ready for Primary and Middle School Camp Week! Parents, please read the details and complete the actions to grant permission. These important emails were sent to your parent email.
Please join us for Parent University on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 8:15 am in the Hall.
This month, we are hosting a special session on the Mission of HOPE International School, led by our Board members. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet individuals on our Board and gain insight into their important work. They will be sharing:
What it means to be a "Member Mission."
The specific responsibilities of the Board (and what they don’t do).
How our board protects the school’s core values.
HOPE operates as a non-profit and serves the families of Christian workers here in Cambodia. We encourage all parents to attend to better understand how our school operates and how each of us can play a role in the mission of HOPE.
As part of our ongoing commitment to student safety and our school accreditation process, we will conduct a campus wide scheduled "Shelter-in-Place" drill on Wednesday, February 18.
This exercise helps students and staff practice staying safe inside their classrooms. This procedure is used in the event that a situation (such as inclement weather, neighborhood disruption or political unrest) makes it safer to remain indoors or control dismissal rather than gathering at our usual outdoor assembly points. This drill ensures that our community is prepared and protected in various situations.
We are pleased to share the final version of the Self-Study Report for our upcoming ACSI-WASC Accreditation visit. This report represents the hard work of our community and will be presented to the visiting committee who will be on campus March 15 to 19. We invite you to review the document and celebrate this milestone with us.
The time has come! Our annual Formal is back this February, and all High School students are invited to join us for a dinner with the theme of ‘Red Carpet.’ A glamorous night awaits at the JD Polman hotel! Get your tickets soon for $30 USD at the Front Office and get ready for a night to remember.
A few more spots available for the Lunchtime Live Performance. This is a performance opportunity for students who have prepared and practised a performance piece, whether they are beginners or more advanced. It is a chance to build confidence, develop stage presence, and share your creativity with a supportive audience. We welcome groups or solo performances.
