Our recent accreditation visit encouraged us to look closely at our mission. Following this year’s theme of biblical truth, we have worked hard to ensure our school’s foundation remains strong.
We believe that the knowledge gained here is not just for our school, but for the whole world. Our students’ success at the Singapore MUN proves this. It shows that when we integrate the Word of God with global leadership–we are ready to serve as 'salt and light' in an interconnected world. We are grateful for this season of growth.
We made it! The Accreditation Visit was the final component of our dual accreditation process with the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). After four days of comprehensive meetings with various members of our community, the visiting committee concluded the process with a report presented to Staff, the Board and Parent Council on Thursday.
HOPE was commended for cultivating a distinctively Christ-centered environment and demonstrating a strong commitment to high-quality teaching and learning. Additionally, the school leadership team was highlighted for intentionally cultivating a culture of openness, collaboration and growth. HOPE also received accolades for developing, maintaining and systematically reviewing its policies and procedures.
The visiting team also gave HOPE some action items to be working on to improve our commitment to quality, Christ-centered education. These are curriculum mapping, measuring success through student outcomes, expanding our service-learning connection, a more developed spiritual growth framework and the implementation of a regular feedback mechanism that supports systematic decision-making.
The visiting team recommended that HOPE should be reaccredited for six more years, pending further review and the final decision is made by the ACSI International Commission on Accreditation and the validation and acknowledgement of WASC’s Commission on Accreditation.
Six of our students just returned from an incredible experience at Yale Model United Nations Singapore (YMUNS) 2026! Among 540 Delegates from 200 schools across 15 countries, the three-day summit brought Yale’s MUN tradition to Southeast Asia, offering a high-impact platform for diplomacy and global problem-solving. We are so proud of our delegates for representing us on the international stage!
Among the attendees, Sua Lee, a Grade 9 student, commented that while the committee sessions were rigorous, the conference offered a holistic educational experience that set it apart. "Unlike other conferences, YMUNS provided sessions on how to 'level up' for the future—specifically preparing us for high-stakes scholarship interviews for top universities in the US and UK." Evelyn Kim, a Grade 10 student, also mentioned ‘the diverse perspectives definitely challenged me to think critically, communicate with confidence, and engage in meaningful global dialogue!’
Our delegates also had the opportunity to explore the state-city of Singapore, visiting iconic landmarks like Marina Bay, Gardens By the Bay and taste the flavor of local food. Thanks to our chaperones Wayne McMaster and Megan Holmes for leading the students in this trip.
The final conference of the year is coming up; HOPE students will be attending the NISC Model United Nations hosted by Northbridge International School next weekend.
We have started our reading adventure! Here is everything you need to know:
Read-A-Thon: 16 March – 2 April
Book Week: 30 March – 2 April
Dress-Up Parade: 2 April @ 8:00 am (Park Plaza)
Students color their reading maps to track progress:
PS–G2: 1 segment per 15 mins (reading or being read to).
G3–G8: 1 segment per 30 mins.
Prizes: The classes with the most hours (PS–G2 and G3–G8) win an Ice-Cream & Plant-a-Tree Party!
Students should come dressed as a book character or an adventurer from a story. Parents are invited to join us at 8:00 am for the parade!
Our Primary and Middle School students are entering their GL Testing season for the remainder of the month. These assessments are vital tools that help us celebrate student progress, understand their growth, and identify areas where the school can provide extra support.
Please join us in prayer as we select our School Captains from the Class of 2027. We seek guidance for these student leaders as they prepare to serve our school community in the coming year.
This year our Fine Arts Exhibition and Recital will feature two days of performances!
Our Primary students will be performing on Thursday, April 23rd and our Secondary students have the opportunity to perform on Friday, April 24th.
Performing at the Fine Arts Recital is a bit more formal than lunchtime live, so if you have a piece that is performance ready - use this form to sign up.
Our Grade 11 students recently hosted a Science Exhibition, a core requirement of their IB curriculum. Centered around the Collaborative Sciences Project, this exhibition challenged students to work in interdisciplinary teams to tackle real-world issues through rigorous research, hands-on experimentation, and creative presentation.
The students presented their projects last week and their innovation, scientific inquiry, and collaborative spirit was impressive!
The HOPE Academic Journal is a student-driven publication that aims to feature relevant and outstanding academic works of Secondary Students every semester. The HOPE Academic Journal not only celebrates the achievements of our current students but also serves to inspire younger kids by showing what is possible when they apply themselves to their studies and research.
While our upcoming issue will specifically feature a section on Sustainability, we remain open to all content. We encourage you to submit any work you are proud of, regardless of the topic.
Students and staff are welcome to submit or nominate:
Written Work: Essays, research papers, or creative writing.
Creative Media: Songs, artwork, photos, and videos.
Projects: Notable coursework or ‘paperwork’ of academic merit.
Please send your work to the Committee at: journal@hope.edu.kh
All submissions will be reviewed by the editors and approved by the Oversight Board before publication.
The SAT will be offered at HOPE International School on May 2nd, 2026, open to anyone interested, including students from other schools. Registration closes on April 17.
The SAT® Suite of Assessments is a standardized test used as an entrance requirement for many Universities in the USA. To register, please visit College Board’s registration page and create a College Board account. Be sure to select HOPE International as your testing site.
