It’s been a privilege and honor to be part of HOPE International School for last 5 years. My family came to Cambodia as a missionary family, not envisioning HOPE as part of our mission opportunity when we left America 7 years ago. HOPE has been truly a blessing to us as a missionary family, as well as to other Christian workers in Cambodia.
At HOPE, I have the privilege of being part of the recruiting of teachers and other staff members. I call it a privilege because I have experienced the hand of God in the calling of our staff to HOPE. It is through the prayers of parents and staff that each of our positions are filled, and each staff are truly an answer to those prayers. Through the stories that our staff share when we ask the question why Cambodia and HOPE I am assured that these teachers are part of God’s greater plans for HOPE . Their testimonies are surely God’s orchestrating of each of their lives and our HOPE community.
As stated in Jeremiah 29:11, "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'” It is God who plans for what is the best for our HOPE community. Please continue to pray with us for the right people to fill our needs now and for August 2021. Thank you.

Within the constraints of government requirements and restrictions that we must comply with, where we have discretion, HOPE seeks to implement socially and morally responsible responses that are proportionate to the local pandemic situation.
We recognise that the pandemic is not over anywhere until it is over everywhere. Globally, it looks as though the COVID-19 pandemic will be part of our world's reality for at least the next couple of years, with several waves and changes in circumstances.
We are all very grateful to God that there have been no major outbreaks of COVID-19 in Cambodia to date, and that there has been no evidence of local transmission for months now. As such, we are currently in a privileged, low-risk phase of Cambodia's journey through the pandemic. Only God knows what the future holds for Cambodia, but we need to anticipate and be prepared for multiple phases that will likely include at least one active outbreak in this country.
During the current low-risk phase, we will continue to comply with government guidelines and instructions. We thank families for their cooperation that has allowed us to open the campuses for in-person learning.

■ Thank you for keeping your children home when they are sick until they are fully recovered.
■ Only those individuals who are showing symptoms must stay home. Please watch out for emerging symptoms in other members of the household and if other members begin to show symptoms, keep them home as well. But individuals with no symptoms may still come to school even if a family member is sick. This is because in the current low-risk phase, coughs, fevers, etc are most likely to be due to some other virus; the probability of them being COVID-19 is very low.
■ However, if ANY member of the household develops sudden new loss of smell or taste, please keep ALL members of the household home and notify the school. This is because sudden loss of the sense of smell or taste is a symptom that is fairly specific to COVID-19.
■ Suspected or confirmed cases of local transmission within Cambodia
■ Suspected or confirmed cases of transmission in Phnom Penh or Siem Reap
■ Suspected or confirmed cases of transmission within our school community
Although visitors have not been allowed on Campus during school hours thus far, we know that this will eventually change. In anticipation of this, we have decided it is a good time to offer Child Safety training for our parent volunteers and coaches so that people are trained and ready as soon as we get the go ahead for onsite activities to resume.
We would like to offer a Volunteer Training session on Thursday 5 November, 2:45-4:00.
Interested Volunteers, please contact Edizza via edizza.mora@hope.edu.kh to register your interest in advance.
As part of our Child Protection process all volunteers are required to submit a copy of their passport, for background checking, annual attendance of Child Protection Training and signed agreement of our Child Protection policy.
Thanks for your help to make HOPE a safe and fun environment for our kids.
Blessings,
Russell Mills
