20 Years of HOPE: Our Story
This video is a compilation of the beginnings, history, and story of HOPE School.
God was faithful yesterday, He is faithful today, and He will surely be faithful tomorrow.
Upcoming Dates to Remember:
1 February Mock Exams begin (G10 and G12)
3 February Academic Inservice (12pm Dismissal)
21-24 February Camp Week
27-28 February Mid Term Holiday (No School/Offices Closed)
On Friday 6 January, we gathered on campus to celebrate the last 20 years of HOPE International School in Cambodia. With just over 250 people in attendance, we began the evening with live music, a silent auction, delicious appetizers and food by C9, and lots of photo opportunities.
Alumni and friends came from Australia, Singapore, and even Battambang to gather together that evening.
We had donations from Honest Wood, Penh Lenh, Goel Community, Original Design Woodworks, Hebron Dental, Khraft, and many more for the silent auction. In total, we raised over $1,500 for HOPE!
Adam Ecklund, David Ware, Brent Willsmore, and Ruth Appleby all gave speeches with a common theme; God's continued faithfulness at HOPE.
We also got to hear from Maaike Prins, Mark Twine, and Melissa Baumbach as we reflected and honored the 12 years of HOPE Siem Reap.
Thank you to all who supported and attended this event. Continue to celebrate HOPE by sharing our "20 Years of HOPE" story (video at the top) with those in your community!
The HOPE School Calendar for next Academic year is here! Note that it might be subject to minor changes, but the holidays and first/last days are set.
Important dates to note...
July 23, 2023: This date is not on the calendar attached, but it is the National Election day and is one reason why we are starting a week later.
August 9: First day of school.
November 27-28: Water Festival is only a 2 day "work" holiday this year. That is based on the calendar set by the government.
March 29: Easter and Khmer New Year do not align this year, so we will close school for Good Friday.
June 7: Last day of school.
Written by Tavita Asiata:
Prayer & Fasting was such an incredible time of seeking Him and reflecting on Him, and on all that He has done in our lives. It was an amazing time also, as individuals, where we were called to seek God for His forgiveness and for His guidance in our pursuit of His purpose in our lives. Having our HOPE parents, teachers and children/students involved made it extra special for families.
I really felt it was the beginning of a new and wonderful Spirit-led journey for us as a school and as a wider community. There have been many testimonies of God’s faithfulness and goodness from staff, students and from our HOPE families.
So, for Sina & I, we really felt to continue on with the momentum and to carry on our prayer & fasting for the rest of Semester 2.
So every Wednesday we will fast, and we will lead a prayer meeting in the Hall (which will be open to all students, staff and parents to join in). Our prayer time will be during lunchtime, from 12.15pm-12.45pm (30mins).
To all our HOPE families and extended community, we would love to have you come join us as we cry out to our Lord in prayer together. Praying for our children/students, our staff, our families, our future building plans/land, our health & wellbeing and any other prayer need that arises! Blessings in Jesus!
This weekend, our High School Basketball teams played their Grading Tournaments across ISPP, NISC and CIS.
A Boys finished 3rd place in their pool, and B Boys finsihed 3rd as well. A Girls finished 2nd in their pool. The girls game against Logos went to “sudden death” (first team to score wins) and they managed to win with a free throw!
All scores can be found on the Kouprey Website.
MS Football friendlies on Tuesday 3:45pm (A Team) and 4:45pm (B Team). Girls are at Logos and Boys are at HOPE.
HS Basketball friendlies against Logos on Wednesday 4pm (Girls) and Friday 4pm & 5pm (Boys) at HOPE.
Parent Council has helped to organize all Primary classes to have group chats for Parents on Telegram!
Each group is run by the class Parent representative and is used for class parties, Teacher appreciation, and general announcements.
If you are not in the group, and would like to be, please reach out to Kate Roden or Sina Asiata to be given the QR code to join.
