Beyond HOPE with Jacob Hodges
Beyond HOPE is a new video series featuring Alumni as we reflect and honor 20 years of HOPE.
At HOPE, we consider anyone who has spent any amount of time at HOPE an Alumni - not just graduates.
Throughout the semester, we will share previously recorded stories of those who have come before us and God's faithfulness in their lives.
Upcoming Dates over the next TWO Weeks:
12 October (Both) Parent/Teacher Meetings - 12pm Dismissal
17-21 October (PP) FLAG Week for Secondary
18 October (SR) Photo Day

Siem Reap K/1 Teacher, Ms. Mara, held a cooking class for her students. The students learned kitchen skills and vocabulary and everyone had a great time. As the students participated in this lesson, they learned not only learned vocabulary for cooking, but also math and science! Ms. Mara said that the cooking class was a really great experience for her students' to put math and science into real-life practice.
Zoe Doudt (G12) recently self-published a collection of poems titled My Tethered Heart. She likes to describe it as a poetry memoir of her memories. Many of the poems are associated with the experiences and emotions that she has felt being a TCK.
"This is a book of my stories, through the medium of poetry. An edited compilation of the storm that goes on in my head, now perpetuated on paper, for better or for worse. These are memories from all over. Some have swam for a long time through the surface of my thoughts, and some I've had to dive deep to find. Regardless, they're all crucial in how God has shaped me to be who I am today."
After school this Friday, Zoe will have a table set up beside the School Shop with copies of her book. She will also have freshly baked cookies, so buy a book and get a cookie!
Congratulations, Zoe!

As we reflected on our past fundraising efforts such as the snack bar for Sport’s Day, the Online Carnival, Teacher’s Day and various mini snack stalls throughout the year, we have forgotten that raising funds is not just about the money or profit. Essentially, it is to come together as a united community to provide support to others in need.
Thus, we planned a donation drive, dedicating the whole month of October to receive donations to deliver to the community of people living near the landfill of the Sangkat Dangkao district. There are about 500 families that work day and night to manage about 3000 tonnes of trash everyday to provide for themselves. Countless young children also have to work to provide income, and do not have access to basic education, proper hygiene nor safety.
We are working together with a Korean Christian NGO called the Green Bethel Organisation who have been serving there since 2015. They have successfully set up a small school and church throughout the years and are continuously helping them by providing food, education and a way to build a relationship with God through weekly Sunday service.
To donate: A drop-off area will be made available starting this week until the end of the month in the front office.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated such as used or new school supplies, toys, clothing, shoes, bags, linens and hygiene essentials!
Thanks,
Class of 2023
