From waves to school again!
After a relaxing week, many people cherish the memories of spending their holidays near the beach. One thing to observe about the waves is their power.
In a span of a few seconds, we can see the force crashing against the shore with great energy. After each crash, there is a brief calm before a stronger wave hits.
Just like those waves, students are back after a much-needed break! Re-energized and ready to tackle new challenges and exciting moments ahead. There is something for everyone to enjoy, from sporting events, performances, and trips. Let's cheer and motivate our students to achieve their full potential!

The Model United Nations Read more
The Model United Nations (MUN) club at HOPE is a student organization that simulates the workings of the United Nations. The primary goal of a Model United Nations club is to provide students with an opportunity to develop their skills in diplomacy, public speaking, research, and critical thinking.
This semester, under the supervision of Mr. Andy Staunton, over 20 students from Grades 9 to 12 are participating in various activities; including their first local conference at ISPP from October 20 - 22. Students follow a strict dress code, research and prepare resolutions and speeches and engage in public speaking and debate. Opportunities like this allow our students to develop confidence, communication and leadership skills, global awareness, and empathy as they put themselves in the situations of different countries.
This weekend at ISPP, our students will represent the interests of Madagascar, Liechtenstein and the UAE. A unique opportunity for our students to be ambassadors for Christ as they interact with students from around Phnom Penh. Pray for them in these endeavors.
The extended essay Read more
One of the requirements for our students completing the full IB Diploma Programme is the Extended Essay. This component is part of the IB Core, which means it sits outside their six subjects. It gives students an opportunity to dive deep into a topic of their choice. By formulating a research question, students develop research and high-level academic writing skills, producing a 4000 word essay that aims to answer their key question. Here are some of the research questions our Grade 12 students are working on:
How has Tesla's focus on electric vehicles impacted the automotive industry and the adoption of electric vehicles by consumers? (Business)
How does maximum wind thrust change with the variation of the pitch angle of a propeller? (Physics)
To what extent does a temporary social phenomenon impact the emergence of fresh vocabulary? (Korean)
To what extent has the expansion and growth of Youtube Shorts impacted the market share and growth of competing short-form video platforms such as TikTok and Reels? (Business)
As you can see, these questions are interesting, varied and complex. The extended essay is excellent preparation for the level of academic writing that will be expected of our students in university. If you see the Grade 12s around campus, encourage them in their research! They devote a significant amount of effort and energy into this essay which will be completed before the Christmas break.
