It's December

As the year winds down and the temperature of the city inspires us, we step into a month of new beginnings and renewal of the hope as we remember the birth of Jesus.

December brings unique feelings, and we can embrace the spirit of hope, a guiding light that illuminates our path, mirroring the solid hope that Christ brought into the world. Let us reaffirm our belief in the power of unity, the strength of community, and the boundless possibilities that lie before us. Together, let us craft a brighter future, brimming with kindness, compassion, and shared dreams, echoing the teachings of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

HIGHLIGHTS

A Draw!! Verner & Ellison Win Cross Country 2023

Yellow and Green colors crossed the line a few more times than the red and blue on Cross Country day. In a historical draw, the two teams finished with a score of 170 points in the combined results. Verner Boys led the scores with only 2 points over Ellison, while Ellison Girls won over Verner with the same difference; 2 points.

All HOPE students ran from Preschool through Grade 12. Our preschool and Kindergarten students hit the field first with a 100m loop followed by our Grade 1-2’s who ran 250m around the school after requesting a longer race this year. Grade 3-5 ran 2km, Grade 6-8 ran 3km and our last race of the day was for our high school students who ran 4km. Water balloons, sponges and a stream of water flew through the air following the race and we finished with extremely wet clothes, minor scratches and tired legs! Below are the medal placings for each race and we also congratulate Ellie Tan, Eunho Park, Pauline Phork and Eisu Shimada for being our best young runners in the Primary and Middle school categories.

We were incredibly proud of the effort each student made before their Water Festival Break and a HUGE thank you to all our parent, student and staff volunteers.

Christmas Production

On Wednesday 13th December, HOPE will run a Christmas production on the Secondary Court. The production will run from 3:00-4:00 pm and will involve Kindergarten to Grade 5 as well as Middle School Music Classes (6A, 7A, Grade 8 Music). All are welcome to attend. Check out this invitation from our stellar students!

For the day of Christmas Production, parents are asked to dress their children in the following colors

ACADEMICS | PRIMARY

SEQTA Engage

We would like to remind parents that one of the ways we communicate academic progress is through SEQTA Engage. This platform is a key part of our commitment to keeping you informed and actively involved in your child's educational journey. Through SEQTA Engage, you can access information like teacher feedback on your child’s progress, student timetables, and past academic reports. This transparency not only helps you stay up-to-date with your child’s learning journey but also enables you to support them more effectively at home.

To log in, head to engage.hope.edu.kh and log in with the email address that you provided to the school. If logging in for the first time, you will need to reset your password. Please contact it@hope.edu.kh if you need assistance.

FROM OUR CHAPLAIN

He is holding you

Psalm 139:7-10

“Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.”

The Holy Spirit will not leave us or forsake us, whether you are running to Tarshish or Timbuktu. God knows your steps, and even in the depths of the dark valleys we walk, His hand shall hold you, He shall lead you. The Creator of the universe is powerful beyond our imagination, and He chooses every morning to give new mercies, offer grace, and give forgiveness to those who ask. He is faithful to hold you even when you find yourself in the belly of the whale.
