From fantastical literary journeys to journeys of Lent and Faith!

Fresh from the adventures of Book Week, where students explored the greatness of literature, we now turn our hearts towards Holy Week; a time for reflection on themes of faith, sacrifice, and new life. It’s such an encouragement to be able to nurture young hearts and minds in weeks like these!

HIGHLIGHTS

A fantastic Book Week!

This past week, our Primary School had a fantastic journey filled with the love of reading, coordinated by the Library and Art Department. Three exciting activities were held to spark students' imaginations and highlight the importance of books.

The reading competition reflected Primary's collective reading spirit, much like the stories hung up within the trees placed on the walls of the Primary Hall.

Book Week culminated in a spectacular parade today (Friday)! Primary and some secondary students brought their favorite characters to life with their costumes when they walked around the Mango tree area. Their smiles reflected the pure joy found within the pages they read.

A heartfelt thank you to the generous partners who sponsored gifts for the Read-a-thon. While this fundraiser officially concludes today, there's still time to participate! Fill out this form and all proceeds will go towards enriching our library's collection.

ACADEMICS

Parent-Teacher Meetings

Don't forget to reserve your time slot in the PTO app for the Parent Teacher Meetings this Thursday! You'll find more information in the email sent yesterday. As a reminder, there's no school that day. The campus will be closed, with waiting areas available only at Park Plaza, the Playground/Primary Court, and the Sahakom Cafe area. Please note: students must be supervised by a parent or guardian while on campus for the meeting.

TOK Demo Exhibition

Grade 11 students recently took a big step forward in their Theory of Knowledge (TOK) studies with a mock exhibition. This exercise, a vital part of the IB Diploma requirements, allowed them to showcase their draft essays and engage in discussions with academic staff and last semester's TOK graduates from Grade 12.

This approach provided a valuable opportunity for the Grade 11s to refine their work by receiving feedback from academic staff and their peers who have already navigated the TOK exhibition process. It's encouraging to see our IB students actively engaging with challenging coursework and demonstrating strength in learning.

KOUPREYS | SPORTS

Badminton had its Season!

Badminton was featured in Season 2 at ISPP as part of the ISSAPP calendar, with two HOPE teams participating - Senior High and Middle School. Although the Senior High team did not win, they displayed great spirit and perseverance throughout the competition. On the other hand, the Middle School team secured a win but also showed compassion by allowing the opposing team to catch up, exemplifying the true spirit of sports at HOPE. We would like to express our gratitude to Richelle Maging and Joshua Lee for coaching the teams. All students had a fantastic time competing. It is worth mentioning that no placement or medals were awarded in this event.

Middle School Volleyball friendly

Season 3 has officially started with the first friendly encounter at HOPE. Middle School Volleyball has played against the Lightning of Logos International School.

Season 2 will finally conclude on Good Friday with around 40 HOPE athletes participating in the upcoming ISSAPP Track and Field at ISPP.

From our Chaplain

Paid in full

Then He said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. -  John 19:30

With Holy Week coming up next week, I’ve been considering the many miracles on display in the Gospels. Jesus' last words acknowledge the fulfilment of the scriptures, and displayed the love of the Gospel completely. In the Greek translation, the words “it is finished” are written as τετέλεσται which was an accounting term in that day meaning “Paid In Full”. Which is exactly what Jesus did. He knew the debt we had. He knew the price to pay. He paid it with everything He had, and He paid it in full.

The freedom this gives breathes new life into me. Contemplating this again shows me the value God has for us, the desire He proves to us. We are pursued by an all powerful, and all loving God. My desire is to understand my debt better and live in the freedom that my debt is paid in full. If I know how great my debt was, and now that my debt was paid, now I owe nothing but the debt of love.
