Relationships Shaping HOPE
At HOPE, every relationship matters, because they reflect connection. Relationships are about connecting to create something extraordinary. In recent weeks, we have seen firsthand how relationships can bring joy, growth, and inspiration. What's truly special is that these connections are not driven by selfishness or pride. They are a divine arrangement, part of God's mission for us here in Cambodia. We are grateful for the unique contributions of each person in our community. Together, we are building a stronger, more vibrant HOPE.
HIGHLIGHTS
Enhancing Safeguarding culture at HOPE
Safeguarding remains a top priority at HOPE. This week, our staff are actively engaged in various training sessions and meetings both locally and internationally.
Secondary Principal Taara Portela and Guidance Counselor Angel Haas visited Taiwan for a three day Response Team Training put on by the Child Safety and Protection Network (CSPN). HOPE is a member of CSPN and regularly sends individuals on the Safeguarding team to these valuable training sessions.
Compliance Coordinator John Phifer represented HOPE at the Cambodia International School Safeguarding Association (CISSA) quarterly meeting. He participated in discussions on digital citizenship, road safety and affluent neglect with other safeguarding leads from schools across Phnom Penh.
Additionally, Encompass Safeguarding is hosting a four-day Safeguarding Symposium at ISPP. Several of our Khmer staff including Business Office Manager Phanna Rum, HR Office Theavy Ket, and Front Office Assistant Bunnak Ket are becoming Level 1 certified in safeguarding. John Phifer is also attending the Symposium and discussions at the training range from understanding and preventing grooming, managing harmful sexual behaviors in schools and supportive conversations with parents regarding sensitive topics.
Teacher Appreciation 🎉
A sincere thank you to our entire parent community for your ongoing support, both in and out of the classroom. The Teacher Appreciation event organized by the Parent Council last week was a sweet celebration of International Teacher's Day during lunchtime on Friday. We were overwhelmed by the kindness and gratitude shown through delicious snacks, sweet treats, a break from duties, and heartfelt messages from our students. Your generosity and support are deeply appreciated.
ACADEMICS
Parent-Teacher Meetings for Grades 10 and 12
Please remember that our Parent-Teacher Meetings for Grade 10 and 12 parents will be held on October 24th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. These meetings will focus on exam prep and readiness.
To ensure teachers can provide targeted guidance, please prioritize scheduling meetings for subjects where your child needs the most support. A separate email has been sent with instructions on how to use the Parent Teacher On-Line (PTO) system to book your appointments before the deadline. There is a limit of five meetings per family/student.

CAMPUS
Late Attendance and Follow Up
The Academic Office has recently set up some new procedures to help encourage our students to arrive at school on time! As a reminder, students are expected to arrive at school between 7:40 and 8:00 am. This is to give them some time to get prepared and ready for the day. Developing a habit of punctuality will be a lifelong benefit for our students. We track late attendance and these are the consequences for five or more late arrivals:
Students will be notified through email and expected to attend a lunchtime detention in the Academic Office, where they will complete a reflection sheet.
For the following week, students will be asked to check-in each day at the Academic Office before the music plays (7:57am) to encourage them to build better habits of arriving on time. If they can do this successfully for the full week, no further followup is needed.
Please contact the Academic Office if you have further questions or concerns.
Visa Form and Enrollment Letter
HOPE International School helps provide visa extension and enrollment letters for enrolled students. We recently enhanced our process by automating some parts of the request. If you need this paperwork, you can fill out the form here or visit hope.edu.kh/policies/ to access the updated form.
Additionally, we have recently updated our regular essential parent information.
