Adventure awaits

There’s nothing like Camp Week. It is a time when the bonds of our community become stronger and we connect with God in a different way. There will be lots of fun and outdoor activities in the coming days! As we prepare, let us trust in God's ever-present hand, our shield and our safety on every path we take.

HIGHLIGHTS

Parent University: Technology and Digital Citizenship

Our first Parent University session was a success! We focused on digital citizenship which is the responsible use of technology. During this session, John Phifer, Compliance Coordinator, covered topics related to digital citizenship, including digital literacy and etiquette, online safety and security, cyberbullying, and digital footprints. We discussed practical ways to implement these practices at home, including setting boundaries, modeling good behavior, activating safety features, and setting up screen time limits. Additionally, HOPE parent Emily Ecklund shared practical guidance on managing screen time at home.

The session was recorded and will be available soon.

The overall goal of Parent University is to educate parents on various topics.  If you are a subject matter expert and would like the opportunity to speak during a Parent University session, please contact John Phifer.

Lunchtime Live Performance

Our second Lunchtime Live performance was a delight, filled with the incredible musical talent of our students.

We enjoyed a diverse range of performances, from the energetic Grade 7 group (Pauline, Hailey, Ben K, Fiston) to the beautiful Korean song "가장 좋은 것을 주시는 하나님 (God who gives the best)" by Joy Kim, and the classic "Can't Help Falling in Love with You" performed by Bethanee Soeung and Natalie Yeap.

We are looking forward to our upcoming performances on Fridays, March 14th, April 4th, and May 9th. If a student is interested in sharing their performing gifts, please contact Mr. Honeybun. Lunchtime is better with a great show!

ACADEMICS

HOPE Camp Week ⛺

Camp Week is next week. This is a significant time for everybody in the community: students, staff and parents. Here are some general instructions and reminders about Camp week.

🕔 Monday is Half-day of school

To help prepare students and staff for the week, this upcoming Monday is a half day of school. Students must be picked up at 12:00 pm and should not remain on campus.

📧 Academic Office

To foster a focused and reflective camp experience, these trips are technology free. The Academic Office will serve as the primary point of contact for parents needing to communicate with their children if a problem arises. Pastoral teachers and camp program staff will generally be unavailable via email during Camp Week.

⛑️ Emergencies

In case of an emergency, our staff is trained to respond appropriately. Minor incidents will be addressed with standard first aid. We have established relationships with local clinics and hospitals for emergency situations, and parents will be promptly notified in the event of any emergency. Please ensure you are reachable.

🙏 Stand in prayer

We invite the entire community to join us in prayer for a safe and enriching Camp Week. While camp will be filled with fun activities, our primary goal is to provide students with opportunities for reflection and spiritual growth. Each camp program will focus on specific biblical themes. Please pray that students will connect deeply with God and their peers, as they create lasting and meaningful memories.

💬 Camp Week Live Updates

During camp week, some updates will be shared in designated Telegram groups. These updates will provide a general overview of each camp program's daily activities.

To keep updates efficient and minimal, notifications will be shared once a day either in the morning or at the end of day. We encourage parents to reconnect with their children upon their return for a whole storytelling experience.

CAMPUS

Upcoming Facilities Upgrades

HOPE is excited to announce two major improvements to the campus.

Starting this weekend, February 22, the Primary Court will be temporarily closed.  The court will be painted, the roof will be repaired and the court floor will be resurfaced.  All classes and sports training will be moved to the Secondary Court or Hall for the time being.  We appreciate your patience as we update this important part of HOPE's facility.

The other major project beginning February 22 is the installation of a new preschool friendly playground. This will be located near the primary walkway near the preschool classrooms.  The internal primary gates will be changed and a roof will be placed over the entire walkway. Parents can access primary classrooms by walking through Sahakom Cafe towards the Secondary Court during this time.

HOPE would like to thank Woodway Baptist Church in Waco, Texas, for their generous donation which made both of these projects possible.

Crisis Care and Counseling Support Policy

We have made some updates on our policy for Crisis Care and Counseling Support. This policy outlines our established emergency procedures and commitment to follow-up care for staff and students. We encourage you to review the updated policy to understand how we prioritize your safety and well-being.
