The past few weeks have been filled with intense school activity: GL Tests, Book Month, an ongoing tournament in Taiwan, crucial deadlines, and numerous extracurricular engagements. Yet, amidst this bustle, we see a reflection of the enduring character God shapes within us. Just as Jesus displayed ultimate endurance in approaching the cross, we too are called to persevere through moments requiring intense effort, diligence, and patience. We know that in all things, God's sustenance is sufficient for all resilience and determination. We can be sure that God helps us through our school community—in classrooms, on the sports field, and in all other activities.
After a thrilling series of matches that began in March, our annual chess tournament, this year organized by Reuben Porter and Elijah Hendrata, has reached its exciting conclusion!
Congratulations to our champion, Hoyoung Lee from Cormack, who earned the victory today, Friday. The intense tournament final was live-streamed in the Park Plaza twice, as the initial match finished in a tight draw.
All up, 21 competitors played in the group stage while only the top 2 from each group continued to the knockout rounds. In total, Verner and Cormack came out on top with 41 points each, with Hammond in third and Ellison fourth. All of the games, fixtures, house points and more were recorded here.
Our Model United Nations club is participating in the Northbridge-organized conference this weekend, where HOPE delegates will advocate for the interests of India, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Yemen within their respective committees. This year, HOPE expands its participation to include Junior MUN, alongside the Senior category, marking the involvement of middle schoolers for the first time.
Our Grade 3 to 5 students are in the second-last week of their Fundamental Gymnastics unit! They have been working hard on forward rolls, handstands, and cartwheels while starting to put together their own routines. Mr Stewart and Mr Vutry have been teaching this unit over the last few weeks.
March is about to end and we have made this the book month. Here are some reminders as we enter finish Book Week.
Reading Log Challenge: See how our students are growing as readers! The caterpillars display their reading achievements, showing both books read and hours spent reading. The reading challenge concludes this Friday at 2:30 pm. The class with the top average reading hours per student will earn a fantastic "Plant-a-Tree Pizza Party Picnic"! The winner will be revealed after the Khmer New Year holiday.
This fundraiser continues and will end the last day of Book Week (April 4). Students are encouraged to find sponsors to donate for the books they read, and all donations will go towards new books for our school library. Click here to donate on behalf of a student.
On Friday, April 4th at 8:00 AM in the Park Plaza, we will have a Book Character Dress-Up Parade. Students are encouraged to dress as their favorite book characters, and parents are invited to join us for the parade!
We are looking forward to welcoming you this Thursday 3 April for our Parent Teacher Meetings. This is a valuable opportunity to connect with your child’s teachers, hear about their progress, and work together to support their learning and wellbeing.
Parent-teacher meeting bookings open tomorrow, Saturday. Instructions will be emailed for booking via the 'Booked' app (formerly PTO). Meetings are 8 minutes each, and availability is limited. Some teachers have requested specific student meetings, as detailed in a separate email. If you did not receive an email, meeting requests can be made through the app from tomorrow morning until Wednesday at 8:00 am.
Please note: School will finish early at 12:00 pm on the day to allow time for meetings, which run from 1:00pm–4:30pm.
If you have any questions or need support with booking, please contact the academic office at academic@hope.edu.kh.
Our IGCSE and IB Art students will be putting up an exhibition of their work in the Hall from April 23 - 25. The exhibition will be open to students during the week, with some special viewing times for our art students’ families. The exhibition will be open to the full HOPE community on Friday, April 25th from 2:45pm onwards, concluding with a Music Recital from 4:00 - 5:00pm. This is open for secondary students to perform, and we are looking forward to a wonderful afternoon of music and art. Come join us and celebrate God’s gift of creativity through the talents of our students.
Students in Grades 2–8 have now nearly completed their GL assessments in Mathematics, English, and Science. Grade 1 students have completed the New Group Reading Test (NGRT). These assessments provide valuable data that help teachers reflect on teaching and learning, monitor student progress, and identify areas where further support may be needed.
Parent reports for students who completed the Mathematics, Science, and English assessments will soon be available via SEQTA. Families will be notified once these reports are published.
Last chance to give feedback. We encourage all parents to share their feedback through this anonymous online form regarding the execution of Camp Week.

Join us for a Parent University session designed to bridge the gap between school and home. We aim to empower parents to partner with the school in guiding their children through important conversations about sex, health, growth & development, and healthy relationships.
Together, we will explore age-appropriate approaches rooted in Christian values and cultural sensitivity, equipping you with the confidence to support your child’s journey. Let’s partner to ensure your children receive accurate, thoughtful, and faith-aligned guidance in a world full of mixed messages.
Before attending the session, please complete the survey below to help the school understand your needs, interests or questions you may have on the topic.
Save the date for May 1st at 1:30 pm at the hall.
We have released the calendar for the School Year 2025-2026 and the updated tuition fees for next school year. These documents are now available on our website.

The yearbook team is creating an exciting edition with a theme that explores the evolution of music and technology through the years.
We are seeking sponsors to advertise within its pages. Take a look at this price list and share this opportunity with businesses who believe in investing in our community. All sponsorship proceeds will directly fund the yearbook committee, with the goal of making this year’s edition more affordable for our students and families.
Every Friday at lunchtime, our community is invited to come together for Fast Friday, a time of corporate prayer. We will be fasting by skipping lunch to pray for our shared needs. Share your prayer requests anonymously or with your name.
